Lavender Sussex Pullet or Cockerel?

I have some people saying that this also isn't a purebred Lavender Sussex. What do you pro chicken folk think she is? Apparently Lavender Sussex don't have dark grey legs. Thank you 😊
This was actually something that crossed my mind too. Sussex chickens should have pink legs. I wasn't quite sure if there was something genetics wise that might cause the darker legs in the lavenders. Perhaps she's a lavender orpington?

Yes I'll have to ask the seller. She's going to be a big girl then ā˜ŗļø

Oh interesting I didn’t even notice that but Sussex definitely shouldn’t have slate legs. Some of the pictures make her look like a splash as opposed to a lavender as well.

I've never heard of black Sussex much less lavender Sussex. But if they are around, it would be very difficult to tell them from lavender Orpingtons.

Lavender being a dilution of black, I'm not even sure it is possible to get white legs on that color variety. Even black and lavender (self blue) old English games have dark legs, the same as Orpingtons.

The chick seems to me to be a slow developer if it is 15 to 16 weeks old. But I am pretty sure it is a pullet.

Thank you. I'll keep you updated on what she turns out to be (breed wise). Thinking lavender Orpington or a lavender Sussex cross - something, or someone else suggested blue splashed Australorp.
No idea at the moment ā˜ŗļø.

Looks just like my Lavender Orp did at her age! They are so sweet!

Pretty girl you’ve got there!

Lavendar sussex are silver sussex with lavendar in place of black, that's the closest there is to a "black sussex".
I know nothing about Orpingtons but Lavendar sussex are not solid in colour as they should have white hackle markings.

A quick search online does indicate Lavender Sussex exist in AU.

The states doesn't have many Sussex varieties.
Apparently APA recognizes Speckled, Light, and Red. But I've never seen a Red Sussex for sale. I have seen Coronation from one small breeder.
(And just now found out Bantam Sussex are a thing.)
I've never seen any other options, but some importers and private breeders might have them.
