today I bought 5 pullets and a cockerel. the man I bought them from got the parent stock from hink jc poultry. he said they were lavender. they are about 6-7 weeks old. could you please post some of your own lavs at this age and blues. I just want to be sure if they are blue or lav. I am delighted with them either way. I'll get some pics tomorrow. now i need another coop

I dont have any pics right now, but I do have some that age. The difference is way noticeable. If he really got them from HinkJC, they're lavenders....

I'll get some pics tomorrow. they have settled in to the quarentine pen nicely. the same guy had maylays and creale (sp) polish. Ugly Ducky bought them

Look at the feather shafts on the wings. If the bird is lavender the feather shaft on the top (upper side of the wing) will be lighter than the shaft on the bottom (inner side). On a blue or splash the feather shaft will be the same color top and bottom.

That being said, as far as I know hinkjc does not have blues. They definitely have lavenders.
