One of our lovely BYCers (LonelyPageTurner) has been told she has a week to "get rid of" her babies. She is in Lawrence Township, In Marion County (Indianapolis). Marion County allows chickens, but Lawrence Township has decided to have their own rules.

Here is her original post: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/730582/indiana-bycers-here/28250#post_13578997

In doing a search online I found others surprised but this ordinance. There is a Meeting/hearing this Monday June 2, at 6:30 at the Government Center at 59th and Post if anyone is from the area and can come be supportive

This all came as a huge surprise and anyone who can help give input on what to do/say etc. at this meeting it would be much appreciated. What does she need to be ready for? It all is happening very quickly!!

Thanks for any help!

Oh its also the city of Lawrence.
I guess that is what caused the problem, Lawrence is it's own city (Like Southport, Speedway, Beech Grove all the chicken problem areas!!). Well I already put Township on the flyers, and printed them, but I think people will know what I mean.

It's ok. It's also lawrence township. As a matter of fact I'm less than a block from being able to keep all my birds and someone in my neighborhood has a rooster. Ugh. I'm so upset :(
