I would like to reply to your note about Texas laws and neighbor's dogs in your yard. If you are defending your own animals, according to TWO TEXAS GAME WARDENS you have the right to defend your own animals by killing the neighbors dogs. We had our neighbors dogs kill all of our ducks and most of our chickens and our neighbors ducks. Some of the incidents were caught on game cameras. The Game Wardens told me via phone, text and in email - I asked them to put it in writing - You have the right to defend your own animals. You can't just shoot the dog because it is in your yard, but if you are defending yourself, your children, your own animals then you have to right to kill it. I would, however, not brag about having to do this with anyone, just know that the law is most definitely on your side. The sheriff most likely is not familiar with animal laws, but get it in writing from your local game warden if you want to know for sure. I have not shot the offending dog, because we have not caught it in our yard , but I have used my pellet rifle on another one of their dogs I caught trying to jump into my chicken pen. It never came back after I clipped it in the hip with a pellet.
