I live within the city limits of Burbank CA and was wondering if I need a permit to raise pheasants as pets. I know you need a permit to keep chickens and was wondering if it was the same deal.

Don't know about your city ordinances. You'd have to check with your city hall for that. Ornamental pheasants are not classified as "Game Bird" and do not require a permit in almost all states. If you are raising Mountain, Gambel or Bobwhite quail, Chukars or Ringneck pheasants they will reqire a state license. Here in AZ you can get a "Hobby Permit" for 5 bucks if your only raising a few. CA is probably the same. Best to check with your local Game & Fish Dept. Hope you don't have any problems, pheasants are really fun to raise.
