We live in the sticks and would run to TSC in town only to find out they were out of crumbles. I think Dumor was what we used at the time. Our flock increased, we needed larger bags anyway. We needed to know we could get it when we needed it, and it had to be decent for raising show-quality silkies.I have used Purina w/ success. I have also used Nutrena w/ success. I have used Tucker Milling, which should have performed better than it did, based on the nutritional label - but was as successful as the Nutrena and the Purina as well as being better priced locally. Plenty of people whose opinions on BYC I find both trustworthy and valuable use Kalmbach, and are pleased with it (subject to the usual caveats in their whole grain options). I currently use HMC, very fresh, extremely good price - and am not displeased.
Keeping in mind that my management methods are not those of most, and my needs aren't that of most.
My recommendation remains unchanged.
Several years ago now, we switched them to Kalmbach's Flock Maker (all-flock), via Chewy. When we got two ducks dumped on us for the first time, I was elated when I checked the bag and it said, "Complete for Ducks." Yey! So that feeds everything here, and we love it!
We do mix a couple of things in, 1/4 dose of Rooster Booster granules and C. skullcap/B, but that just takes a couple of minutes. We have two airtight bins on wheels that hold 30#, bring them in the kitchen, bring a 50# bag upstairs, mix it, and voila. From baby chicks to the old farts, they all get it.
Hubby made and attached 6 oz ceramic bowl holders in all of the breeding pens and wherever else hens are for the oyster shell.
