Layer feed vs flock raiser

I’ve been searching on here about feed and haven’t really found my answer. I have 18 week old girls and no Roo. (Thank the lord he was rehomed the hateful loud mouth.) The chick starter and finished feeds are way higher in protein than the layer feeds. I see some people feeding 20% flock feed opposed to 16% layer feed. Which one is better for laying girls. Why the dramatic drop in protein. Seems they would need more protein as layers. Also I get my feed from TSC. Is the Purina worth the extra bucks over the Dumor. Thanks

I like to feed the flock feed because I have both chickens and ducks. To bump up protein you can scramble up some eggs. I also like to occasionally mix in the feather fixer feed as it has 22% protein.

I personally feed my flock of layers and rooster Flock Raiser. They love it! I provide oystershell in a separate container for my hens to eat as needed.
