I'm switching over to layer feed (actually my hens are)....
I've been feeding them Nutrawise crumbles (unmedicated)....
the fellow at the feed store suggested Blue Seal Home Fresh
layer pellets. I don't have any knowledge of this brand or product....
does anyone else use this feed product? Is it a "good" feed to give
    my new laying chickens?
    Thanks for the help

Quote:Blue Seal is a very good feed and a sister Co. to Kent Feed and Evergreen Feed.
I used Kent in the past and liked it very well.

I use blueseal pellets and I'm pretty satisfied with it. The girls make much less of a mess than they do with crumble. I get my eggs and the girls seem to love it.

    Hi Capebird,

Are your rocks laying eggs yet? Mine look like they are getting ready, but nothing yet. Hoping anyday. I just bought my first bag of organic layer pellets.

I've fed Blue Seal feeds to all my animals for 30+ years. They all do well on it. This current flock love crumbles, so I feed the Blue Seal Egg maker crumbles. All my other flocks have been fed the BS layer pellets. (they are all either Home fresh or organic) I start them off with the chick starter and then grower.

I tried Blue Seal, but was much happier when I switched to Southern States All Grain Layer feed, higher calcium guarantee and no animal protein in it. You should be able to find it at an Agway near you, though don't buy "Agway" feeds, these are made by Cargill, and are just crap...

I like Scratch & Peck, but that's made in Bellingham, WA. Don't know if they carry that over there.

Does Blue Seal actually Have animal protein in it? Anyone have a feed tag or ingredient list? Thanks.
