Layer feed

My girls are 17 weeks old and are on the grower finisher food from tractor supply. My question is that I'm almost out and need to get some more but wondering when I switch to layer feed? My Barred Rock is starting to get redder in his face but the other four have no signs of laying. I am a new chicken mama

I mixed finisher and layer half and half at about that time. and was instructed at the feed store to then go to entirely layer feed. I think our first started laying at around 18-20 weeks and the rest have followed. I am new this spring too. Good luck!

There is no mandatory switch to Layer. It's merely Grower with added calcium, calcium you could provide with crushed shells on the side. But if you wish to feed the Layer, at 17 weeks, you'd be fine doing so.
