Layer pellets or crumble

I noticed one of my chickens likes to eat the crumble that falls out of the feeder on the ground. This thread is making me wonder if she's doing that because she likes the mush more.

I give mine layers pellet porridge every night - they'll kill for it!!

Weird lol my chickens HATE the crumbles, they will eat them if there is nothing else but want their pellets haha. I never said my chickens were normal! The only thing to watch with the water/feed mix is don't let it sit there, it can get moldy. make sure to clean up what they don't eat and wash the tray.

Right..i empty everyday....keep it fresh for the spoiled terds....lol

I started with crumble, and my chickens were fine with it for years, but a few months ago they started making a horrible mess. They'd throw feed everywhere (and this took some work with the feeder I was using) and not want the stuff that was on the ground. I switched over to pellets and they've been much, much tidier. Their appetites are doing fine, too.
