Layers and meat birds

Not sure where is the proper place to put this thread…we are planning on getting layers for us, and meat birds for our kids for 4-h. I understand that we need separate coops/runs for each. I am finding differing opinions on how far away the runs need to be from each other. We have a pole barn that is 50 ft deep with a concrete pad lean-to on the east side. Can we put the different coops on either end of the lean-to, so about 30 ft apart? Or am I way off base? Thanks!

You need to separate layers from meat birds for feed management reasons. They can be directly on opposite sides of the same fence.
