Layers mash before they lay ?

My Australorp pullets are 23 weeks old and I've just run out of "growers mash". Can I buy and feed them "layers mash" considering that they should start laying in about 3 weeks (26 weeks of age). Because if I buy "growers mash" I'll have to buy 10kg (20 pounds) and that's too much for 3 weeks.

You should start giving them layer feed when they are about 18 weeks old

I prefer not feeding layer feed until they've begun laying, but your pullets are pretty far along, so if you want to switch at this point, it should be ok.

Watch out by giving them more calcium. It may make them lay an egg.
