how long after a hen hatches her chicks will she start laying again? What if the chicks are removed from her?

It generally takes a minimum of 6 weeks- she has to gain weight and get some strength back. If you give her extra protein and calcium (I do tuna and yogurt) she may start earlier than if not, but some take up to 12 weeks.

It's all about how healthy she is, and how much he has to regain...mommas tend to starve themselves and still don't focus on their own health right away whether you take the chicks or not- it's a lot less work if she keeps the chicks, btw- it doesn't speed it up that much.
