One of our chickens was having some issues back in August 2017. She was lethargic and would go to one part of the yard and just stand there. Here sister had recently passed away, we think they got into some poison from the neighbors yard. So we were thinking maybe she was going too. But she didn't. We were also thinking maybe she was egg bound so we checked her for that as well but nothing. Since then until this week she hadn't laid an egg. She was acting normal after we treated here but wasn't laying any eggs.

This week she is back to laying eggs after a 5 month laps.

Is it normal for a chicken to take 5 months off of laying eggs?

It can be normal depending on age and amount of stress.
Losing a friend is stressful. Being ill/lethargic can be a problem. Days were shortening at the same time. If a bird stops laying for any reason and that comes after summer solstice, they likely won't lay again till after winter solstice. It is now almost an hour longer twilight to twilight than it was at the winter solstice.
Do you only have the one chicken?
How old is she?
Is that an Ancona?
