well they started laying again after the addition of new birds and a feed switch 10 days ago.heres what adding a few new birds into the pen and upping the protein in the feed from rual king 20%meat bird crumble to 28% buchheit game bird starter(non medicated) did to my girls egg production.
before this it was 10-15 eggs a day
monday june 22 added birds changed feed. eggs for the day 12
tuesday june 23 eggs 8
wednesday june 24 eggs 7
thursday june 25 eggs 7
friday june 26 eggs 9
saturday june 27 eggs 0.0000
sunday june 28 eggs 1
monday june 29 eggs 3
tuesday june 30 eggs 1
wednesday july 1 eggs 5 *was out of feed so i went back to a 20% breeder ration last night
today july 2nd eggs 13!!!!!!
now i just hope the switch last night dont mess them up this is the feed i will stick with now as long as buchheit keeps it in stock...

Interesting! I'm getting 5 extra eggs a day now on changing to a 22% feed (used to be a 20% protien) i didn't think it would make a diff. but it deffinatly did...mind you all these birds are way over 12 weeks old... and have been laying 20 a day for a while, now this new feed and im getting 5 more can't complain there

you know i have noticed that the quail seem to have more energy and seem to try and fly more with the 28% feed.also it was mid 90's and very humid the week i changed the feed . and the day after they quit laying we cooled way down upper 70's so i guess you could count heat stress as a factor too.....
