Some of my girls are laying again, finally, after taking about 2 months off for the winter and molting. I have noticed that the shells are much thicker than the ones they laid last summer and fall. They were hatched last April and when they started laying regularly I was a little concerned that the shell quality was a little lacking. This year the shell is nice and strong. Much better than last years. Yay! I am getting 4 a day now, cant wait for more hens to start laying. I have 11 so I am wanting more eggs per day! Some of my RIR eggs are very dark brown and my Buff O eggs are tan.
