I have four Appleyards one older which is laying on a daily bases and has been for laying for about 5 months the younger ducks, five months old I figure should be laying in the next couple of months.

The older duck lays her eggs in a nest I made consistently. Sometimes the egg gets knocked out of the nest when the drake starts chases the ducks around. My question is should I build nesting boxes? Also, what dimensions and how many for four ducks?

I would make one or two more if it were my ducks. 2-3 Nesting boxes total should work, Mine are about 2 x 2 1/2 ft, just to make nice and spacious for them, Metzer farms recommends 12x14 inches for ducks. Its all preference. Many different designs on the internet, lots of people use a five-gallon bucket, mine is just made of OSB.

I have 6 ducks who lay daily. I built them two nesting boxes which are about 18 inches square. They always make their nests in the box, but occasionally I find an egg just out in their sleeping area. Much cleaner to keep them in the box. Often all 6 of my ducks lay in the same box, but the last couple days I've had three in each - interestingly, my pekins all laid in the same box and my welsh in the other. Funny!
