This morning we found a broken egg under the roosting bar which is two feet above the ground. Apparently, one of my pullet was too sleepy to go into the nesting box. I think she laid it very early in the morning while it was still dark or even at night. She was supposed to lay yesterday noon, but she didn't.
Is it common behaviors?

Happens now and then to us; our cochins seem to lay about two or three hours later than the previous day, and sometimes the urge strikes at night. I do think they're just too tired (or maybe they are dreaming about something more important) to step down and get to the box. No worries, just hope you weren't in the middle of a batch of cookies and needed that egg!
