Laying eggs while in the roost

How old are your hens? A couple of mine started doing this when they hit about 7-8 years old. I attributed it to old age.

These are new chickens. Started laying about a month ago maybe.

I have had a few eggs laid overnight under roosts but mine were first eggs from pullets. They all go in nest boxes now. Can you put some fake eggs in nest boxes so they get the idea where to lay? - if not first time laying then -Have you got fresh clean bedding in boxes? Access to boxes first thing in morning when they are up?

Thanks, my birds started laying very recently. They use the nesting boxes regularly. But it may be because they are still getting the hang of egg laying. So Ot looks like I’ll wait it out a bit

Have they been laying in the nests regularly?

They are new layers, been laying about a month maybe.
