Laying eggs

If she is definitely buck wheating then she is a she. Extremely rare for a male to buckwheat. Although I have heard of members who say their males have buckwheated, Sometimes it is hard to keep track in a big group of Guineas who is saying what, I too am having that problem with just eleven adolescents. Pretty sure my original count of 7 female/4 male is still accurate though, I hope.

.as for the mirror, lol yes they love looking at themself. i looked around untill i could find one that was heavy duty and had a weather proof frame or no frame at all. i have one inside the coop and one outside. i just lean them against the walls on the floor. be prepared to have a camera ready! worse then a teenage girl on date night.haha
This made my morning and was good for a hearty laugh. Is there anything uglier than a guinea? I'm still shocked how those adorable keets turned into blue headed ogres. Good thing they aren't in high school.

Amen to that! I think I comment on that very thing to my husband almost daily. they went from cute to vholy smokes that bird got ugly/cute. They do grow on you though. I had to pick up one of my juveniles yesterday and couln't bellieve how hefty they have gotten. A week shy of three months and look fully grown. and my goodness they have appetites! I put out a two quart bowl of boiled corn, laying crumble, and scratch mixed together with oatmeal twice a day between four bowls for the eleven keet/guinea/whatever they ares, and my 9 bantam chickens. The guineas devour their two bowls and then run off the chickens to finish theirs. Then when thats done, they pulverize my potted plant soil all over my porch daily. Bless their little helmeted heads, they make me so mad but I love them anyway, just hope they slow down on the food bill soon. They free range all darn day. They shouldn't be so hungry according to the literature. Guess they didn't read it.
