I saved Levi yesterday from the big evil Dellie women. One ran him away from the feeder and he ran for the pop door, but another was coming into the coop so he veered away and right into another one under the roost. He stopped by the waterer and I held out my hands, told him to come to Mama and I'd save him. He stood very still and let me scoop him up and hold him and stroke his beard. I assured him that soon, they'd be running from him. Gosh, that bunch of teens will turn 17 weeks old Wednesday! Amazing how fast they grow.

Levi crowed for the first time today! And it was really good, too! He has a deeper crow than I expected. He'll be 17 weeks Wed.

Here's a 12 second video of Levi crowing. My Ameraucana rooster, Scout, had a shrill crow. This will be much better, though he still needs work. He's just doing it over and over. Hope Dutch doesn't take notice too much or he'll be running for his life.

That's a darn good crow for a youngster. Nice body language with it- Levi is going to be a force to be reckoned with. Dutch knows this deep down inside and is ignoring him on purpose.

The crow I happened to catch did sound a bit kazoo-like, but he was crowing for an hour and it sounded really great for a first-timer. He hasn't crowed yet today. The others started just before 3 a.m.
