Thanks to the advice I received here....I ordered these ISA BROWNS from TOWNLINE HATCHERY and they were delivered in April. They began to lay at the early age of 16 weeks and have become brown egg laying machines. Now at age 21 weeks old they are producing better than I projected(i do have 3 WL in the flock). All last week I cheerfully gathered 40-42 eggs out of a possible 47 layers. I hope this is a ratio I can count on to continue. Townline advertises on there web site that these ISA Browns make up about 60% of the world commercial market because of the consistent laying habits and if what I'm seeing now stays consistent then this will be my new layer breed.

For those that are unfamiliar with this breed they are a cross between Rhode Island Red and Rhode Island White.
Here are a few pics of my flock:

They are a product of an enormous breeding program that has been going on for decades so they're not something you can replicate for yourself even if you could get the original parent stock from way back when.

I love my ISA girls. Very reliable layers. One tractor full of them, another full of a good strain of White Leghorn, and my egg production soared.
