How old are Buff Orpingtons when they start laying??

Anywhere from approx 18 weeks and up. It just depends on the individual hen really and taking into account the time of year and light conditions. I've heard some starting at 18 weeks and then some which didn't lay until 24 weeks.

When they are close to point of lay their combs wil plump up and redden, and they will start showing interest in the nest boxes.
