I guess chickens take their favorite nesting boxes very seriously. There were 3 other perfectly good UNUSED nesting boxes they could have chose from, but nope! They have to sit on top of each other. Now I know why I keep getting crushed eggs.. Has this ever happened to you?

All the time. One building had 4 nests for 10 hens and they all used the same box. I have a picture of two in the nest at the same time but on another occasion there were 3 in the nest at the same time. I just didn't get a picture of it.
In another building with 11 hens and 2 nests, they all wait in line for one nest.

I have 5 nest boxes for 9 hens, but they only like these plastic milk crates, of which there are just 3: I call them A,B,and C. No one was using B, so I took the fake eggs from the other boxes and put them in B. Now B is all the rage, and they double up in it.....

Love it!! Chickens are certainly flock animals.:gig There's certainly a lot of human behavior you could classify as chicken behavior ;). Gorgeous birds too.

I put fake eggs in all 4 nests(17 layers) to 'spread the love',
rarely see more than one bird in a nest.
Nests have smaller entrances, 10" dia, that probably helps them defend their space.
