Have three and one half month old Orpington chicks. What age should I sart feeding
laying pellets? Any info is appreciated.

I recommend just putting out oystershell before you have any idea they're coming into lay...they'll only eat it if they need it....so when they start to eat a bunch of it, you'll know it's time to swtich to layer ration (although many just keep their birds on grower ration and add oystershell free choice).

Also, when they're about to start laying, their combs and wattles will turn BRIGHT bloody red color. That's a sure sign you're close.

I was told to start to feed layer pellets with the first sign of an egg also, but I acquired a few layers before mine started to lay and they said it was ok to feed them layer food a little early.
