Laying Inside the House!

Hi! I am a newbie with 7 amazing 5 month old pullets. My family and I just adore theses birds! One in particular, Gidget (Jersey Blue Sex-link), is SO friendly that she pecks on the back sliding door each morning to come in and lay her daily egg in our hearth! We softened the landing with a cozy blanket After she lays, she continues to prefer to hang out inside with us, she even has made her way upstairs to the bedrooms - the kids LOVE THIS! Anyone else with a chicken who dreams of being a house chicken?!

I never tried nor the diapers. Bird dander is not my favorite to deal with in the house.

No kidding.....not to mention the poop(I've diapered kids, no way I'd diaper any other animal) and the chance of salmonella illness with a bunch of kids around.

We too adore all of our chickens but one in particular, Girlfriend; a speckled Sussex, is the friendliest girl! She’ll peck on the door for treats, follow you every where outside, jumps in our cars/trucks, and when we’re sitting on our front porch bench she always hops up to sit either next to us or on our lap!
