1 have 12 laying hens. Avg used to be 8-9 a day and now it is 2-4 a day. Same yard, same food, same treats. i just no not know what is wrong. They laid great all winter. Now that it is warmer they have slowed down. One day I got only 1 egg.

Any ideas???

Hi Rene,

I hope someone offers us some ideas. I've been watching your post as I think it may be related to my small egg post that no one has responded to yet either. Did your girls lay small eggs before the slowdown?

Do you light the coop? We light ours to make sure they have at least 13-14 hours of "daylight" all year long. This helps keep them laying. How old are they? Production will slow down over time.

Ours are all less than a year old and we do not light the coop. They all rarely missed a day all winter long. They are free range during the afternoon and the days are getting longer. Same food, same everything.

Same problem here, I have 14 laying hesn and am getting 5 eggs a day - they need to earn their keep!!
I am trying the corn/cayenne pepper method tomorrow
They aren't molting, they are also about 9 months old
