can i use a 50 gal. tote to use for a nest box for my hens. they are four mths. old and soon to be laying hopefully. I have ten hens and one roo.

Check Pinterest as there are all sorts of good ideas for cheap nesting boxes.

Honestly, my chickens like to lay outside so I have leftover hay bales set up in their big outside run so that they can tunnel between two of them and lay. I only have a couple that actually use the nesting bays in the coop.

Mine are using a drawer from an old non-working refrigerator that my neighbor was getting rid of. They loved it! They didn't like the nest boxes that my hubby built for them.
