We have a RIR that has weird laying habits. She makes a lot of noise and sometimes will sit on the nest for hours before she lays. We lost her sister to being egg bound so we always cut her some slack on the reproductive side. She's also our most tame girl and gets lots of human interaction.

One day I was checking for eggs with my 7 y.o. daughter and Plumpy the RIR was in the nest laying. We watched her and hung out for a bit but it spooked her enough that she hopped off the nest and ran out of the coop. She'd been on the nest for at least 3 hours that day. Well apparently that was all she needed and she started to lay her egg as she was running away! We couldn't believe it and I was even luckier to have my camera with me. I grabbed two shots of it happening and while they're not technically the greatest, at least I "captured the moment"!
