Laying problems or sick hen?

My White leghorn is very ready to lay her first egg, squatting, red wattles and crown, gets in nest box to sit. Some of her coop mates have already laid a few eggs. This morning she has started squatting a lot more and I noticed when cleaning the coop this morning their was a blood blob in the nest box, poop board and on the floor. It is like clear snot with a blood blob inside about the size and length of my pinky finger. She is drinking but not pecking about like her normal nosey self. She is my greeter hen but is not greeting today. When she goes out in the run she sits and if inside the coop she sits on the floor or nest box. What could be wrong? I am really worried but I know she could be having a hard time with her first egg. Just want her to feel better.

Could this be intestinal shed? Any insight of reassurance or warning of what may be wrong would be greatly appreciated!!

. This what I found this morning, it looks like something dried clear and this dried yellow stuff. It was also on the ground below the nest box.

. She is the white hen in the far back siting. She gets up to drink and then sits back down. She will also stand and rest. Could there be an egg stuck?!

Wish I could help you but I've never experienced this with our chickens.

We did have a buff orpington who had a really difficult time when laying her first egg. My husband brought a chair down to the coop area and she sat/squirmed on his lap for the entire day until late in the afternoon she finally laid an egg.

Maybe your hen could be egg bound? I've never heard of intestinal shed.

That one photo of red poop looks to me like blood. I haven't had a hen pass anything like that for an egg, but I might be concerned that she has coccidiosis. Thesymptoms are depression, lying around puffed up, and sometimes blood in poop. Intestinal shedding is not quite that red. I would be inclined to get Corid and treat the whole flock in the water for 5 days. It comes in powder 1/2 tsp. or liquid 2 tsp per gallon of water. Do not add anything else to water, make it the only source of water, and change the water daily with fresh medicine.

Thank you for responding!! I have started Corid in the now one water source. I have held her and massaged her rear, she seems to feel better. She is trying to peck around more and more alert. She did however have a very brown/pink poo that was almost watery pudding/jello consistency. I have looked at the poop chart but of course I can't narrow hers into one category. She has also started squating again when I pet her back which she had quit yesterday afternoon.

Sandy is doing great and laid a very thin shelled egg yesterday and today is in the nesting box again! I think she is going to be fine and was just having issues with her egg tract. Especially with the jello type egg I found on the poop board! Thank you for the help and do you think I should continue the corid? I have been making fresh corid water daily for the last 3 days. I may continue it for 2 more for the full 5 day run.
