I have a Belgian d'uccle bantam and she has recently started laying a few days ago. She started to lay her second egg around an hour ago but nothing has happened. She's jumping around the nest boxes but isn't staying still. This probably does sound a bit silly but I am starting to get concerned as there are no signs of any eggs. I really do just want to know if this is normal or not and if anyone else has had a chicken try to lay for this long.
    Thank you.

Your hen is probably fine. Laying can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours, depending on the hen and how she feels. A lot of birds are rather "restless" until they finally lay.
