Laying while broody!

I've had chickens for quite awhile now and have raised many chicks, both with and without mother hens, but today I witnessed something I have never seen before. I have a year-old Buff Orp sitting eggs for the first time. She is sequestered in her own coop, which prevents her or any other hen from getting in or out. This morning, there was a newly-laid egg on the ground! Admittedly, it is a bit darker than her usual (more like a light chocolate seen from my BCMs), but it it has to be from her. She is still very broody, and her eggs are due in a week or so. Has anyone else seen or heard of something like this?

I think someone is winding you up.
To lay an egg after two weeks of being broody would be extremely unusual; I haven't had, or heard of such an incident.
To lay an egg of a different colour which is apparently rather like the eggs from your BCM's would make me deeply suspicious.
I would be looking to install a finger trap under the hen rather than a game cam.

I admit - it is very strange, but she is in a pen I doubt a rat could get into, much less another chicken. As far as human pranksters go, I am out here alone in a pretty secluded area. I doubt someone made their way onto the property past all the cameras, dogs, etc. just to place an egg in a coop.
A far as the color goes, perhaps she has a buildup of brown pigment? This is the one and only time she has laid since smoking her out.
