Lazy 54 Farm

I spoke to the new owner early this year and he told me that he was
so unprepared for the number of orders that he got that he was drop
shipping all orders. He would take your order then order the same from
other hatchry and they would mail them to you as if they came from
his place...

Over the years I have use them when that hatchry was under the name of Shanks at one time all was good then for whatever reason things went south and soon the new owner appeared... Some ppl have have good dealings
with them others not so much...

I got my Wishard Bronze poults from him... he promised me 100+ poults and delivered 1/3 of them with a bunch of excuses and wouldn't call me or write to let me know what was going on. I was left scrambling for poult numbers in the rare breeds....

He is great when it's time to set up the order, but not so good at filling them and letting you know what is going on if he can't deliver....

I would order from him again, but would not expect full shipment.... I had to have a back-up resource. I have actually used a couple hatcheries that I had not used before.... I lost over 300 chicks in the beginning of teh spring and have been trying really hard to get caught up with my breeds and numbers...

Heaven help me if winter comes early this year. We have yet to get warm evenings, too! All my babes are going to be young.....

I've been trying to take over management of a friend's feed store. I asked him about Lazy 54 because I want to buy local when I stock the store for chicks if I can. A lot of the local chicken hatcheries have closed down so it's a challenge. Anyway, my friend told me that the owner of the Lazy 54 was "hard to deal with". I might still try that hatchery for a small order and hope for the best, but I don't think I would spring for a big order until I'd gotten good results a few times.
