For the last four days one of my pullets has barely left the nesting boxes. The only reason I know she moved the other day is because she switched boxes on the second day, then again on the third day. Today is day four and she just hangs out in the box. I actually picked her up and put her on the ground so I could get the eggs under her and she just kinda pecked around for about five minutes then went right back to the nesting boxes. When I picked her up she didn't make a fuss or anything....usually I can barely pick them up! She sleeps in there too, which is unlike her. My chicks are totally freerange on my three acres and previous to her lazy bout she would roam all around just like everyone else. What could be wrong with her?

She could be broody. Give her the usual check up...look for bugs, eyes clear, nose clear, feet look good, no weird bulges, no strange poops. If she looks healthy but has just claimed the nest box as her own it could be she wants to hatch.

I checked her eyes and nose - both clear. her feet looked fine, no bugs under her wings or anything and no lumps that I could feel. I put her down after that and she got some water, came outside with us for a bit, and within 10 min she was back in her box. She looks fine I guess.... It's just weird to me. She is an Easter egger and doesn't seem to be laying.... at least not today- there was a brown egg under her. Is there anything I should be concerned about?

Thanks for you insight!
