i have a lot of hens laying eggs in nests or floorboards of broken vehicles only recently a few hens started setting
so waiting patiently for brood to hatch finally happened only not in an expected scenario
three hens (hated and pecked at each other last week) appear clucking carrying out motherly attitude duties in unison with three cute little peepers over protective each mom not allowing any other chicks nearby i have chicks hatching from incubator so i was hoping to add to their three chicks
moms wouldn't let them close at all now i have three hens tending 3 chicks
i am thinking of removing chicks and putting them into small cage to get hens back to hating each other
on other hand its the first hens to be MOMS
albeit lazy moms maybe other hens will get the hint
