Hi, I have four red comets appx 1 year old that don't seem to be laying very well. I have only been getting 1 egg a day, occasionally I get 2. 2 of the chickens have been moulting for some time now . They get lots of food, fresh water and outside time. They are not hiding the eggs and I've noticed the normally XLarge brown eggs are getting smaller and are more of a creme colour. Any ideas??
    Thanks

It could be a number of things. Worms, poor nutrition due to age or illness, rats eating the eggs, snakes eating the eggs, chickens eating the eggs, mites can cause trouble too. Moulting birds stop laying almost completely.
