Old aged lead hen, hasn't really laid eggs much for last couple years. Has been staying in the coop the last couple days. Looks normal, comb looks okay. Poop, maybe a little watery. She seems like she's mispecking some at food, but does land some pecks. I don't think she's that hungry, but tries to be "normal" so she doesn't get bullied, plus she's proud. I gave fenbenzanole 2 days ago. Please advise, I believe it's a health issue, not an emotional one. Thanks

Is she starting to molt? Does she have any problems with her crop not emptying by morning? Check to see how it feels in the morning. Is she losing any weight or does she have any enlargement of the lower belly? Can you make sure that she is drinking some fluids with electrolytes and offer some wet chicken feed and egg. Many older hens will suffer from various reproductive disorders and cancer. Crop problems may accompany those.

She's not molting, Crop feels empty, not much appetite, will do some more checking-thanks.

Well we put Goldie/Queenie to rest at an avian Vet. She wasn't able to stand/walk and the vet said she was thin and had fluid in her abdomen and thought there was a growth or something pressing on her nerves. We didn't want her to suffer. She was great flock leader and took great care of her girls. Rest in Peace Queenie!

Sounds like your old gal is going through something. Since you’ve already given her fenbenzanole, maybe keep an eye on her hydration and try some extra vitamins in her water. If she’s still acting off, a vet visit might be a good idea to rule out anything serious. Hope she perks up soon!
