Learn from my mistake!

We lost a beautiful 10-week old RIR pullet because she stood on the edge of an overturned 5-gallon bucket and it flipped, breaking her neck and trapping her underneath, hiding the little broken body from us. That was a heartbreaking, valuable lesson - NO LOOSE GEAR IN THE COOP!!!

I'm very sorry for your loss. I actually had a duck drown in a 5 gallon bucket of water (which was full), something I'd never have believed.

I've also always been quiet worried about the handles of buckets as they can sometimes get their necks caught in them to the same effect.

Again please accept my condolences for your loss. But I'd like to commend you for bravely coming on here and sharing that loss with us for the sake of our birds. Thank you!
