What kind of dog is it and has it actually gotten to kill a chicken already?
Collie mix. Yes, she nearly killed Jace when she was a little puppy (got her little rear yelled at for that one) and has killed or injured a few when she escaped.

Wish I had more Intel to help ya but unfortunately I think it's too late once they start killing. Probably will never stop. Hubby says being a collie makes it worse.
She's as smart as a whip. She knows FINE well the chickens are no, but she does it anyway.

I taught her to ring a bell in five minutes when she was a pup... Pulled it out again 6 months later, and she remembered. I can drop meat on the floor, tell her leave it, and she will. She's pretty good at heeling, getting back into heel, sitting, down, catching food, etc... Chickens are her one vice. She'll be good if she's on a leash or if she's behind a fence with a shock collar on.... But if she gets out she will slaughter birds.

Smart but stubborn.

The terrier I had was so smart I swear she could read my mind. Her biggest downfall was she loved to eat poo. Any kind of poo that wasn't her own. She loved to roll in cow poo when she found it. Ugh. Would do anything I would tell her to do but when it come to poo. . she lost her mind. Couldn't stop her from eating the rabbit poo. She would try to stick her head in the cat box I had to get the kind with the flap to keep her out. Could never break her from that. She knew she wasn't supposed to and would hide from me when she had rolled in something until I sniffed her out.

this was my little poo eater lol. Her name was daisy. She was my best friend for 15 years.

I think I got one of thems. She's had a bloodlust since I first got her at 6 weeks old.

Ugh! :thThat's a nightmare!!! I've got 3 Pugs right now & they're oblivious to the fact that they could be predators. Its not unusual to see one of the kids cuddled up reading a book with a pug & a guinea pig both in her lap, or a pug & a rabbit. They're usually terrified of the chickens & Mako, but other day one of them walked up to one of the chickens, took a 1/2 apricot out of her mouth then ran for his life. Dumb dog doesn't know that chicken coulda taken his bulgey eye out.

Time to call Caesar Milan.:old :lau
One of my pugs is a poop eater too. We've tried to break him of it, put meat tenderizer in their food & pick up the poop everyday, but he's sneaky about it & still finds them. I'm starting to think he's got a hidden stash out there somewhere.
