Hello, Ben, welcome to Backyard Chickens! Congratulations for becoming part of the flock!

What breeds are you going to start out your new flock with? Are you going to buy them as chicks, pullets or hens?

I am thinking of going with pullets to start my flock. I am having typical newbie problems narrowing down breeds though... lol I am also planning to have some some Brodie's to hatch fertile eggs. I would like a flock of bantams as well.. with so many awesome breeds it is hard even after hours of research!

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! I do plan to get my flock started by purchasing from breeders. I know there are many out there and probably many around here I don't even know of but I am sure I am in the right place to point me in that direction!

So hard to choose. Got to know what your main goal is, color, production, and weather hardiness. Lots of pretty breeds.

Here during the summer it is very humid and hot. I have plenty of shade in my backyard though. I do like the chickens with Sheena in the sun off their feathers I so prefer a fair to good amount of eggs. I do prefer pretty sturdy and more tolerant bird overall.
