Wow! I, already, feel very welcome. This seems like such a friendly forum!
I am planning on raising them for eggs/pets. I had considered meat as well, as I like to have antibiotic and hormone free meat, but my DD would absolutely never stop crying. She gets so attached, we had to rehome a dog several years ago, and she would randomly start crying about her pet for over 4 years. Horrific!
As far as which kind to raise... Well, we are still learning and have no idea. My daughter votes for pretty and friendly. I would like some good or interesting egg producers as well as friendly.
momofthree: It is a small world. We haven't been in BA very long. My daughter and I are from Checotah, and my husband is a transplant from SW OK via Chicago. So far we really enjoy BA, it has been a very good change for all of us!
