Learning chicken

I moved to KY four months ago. Our property has a chicken coop already on it. We (kids and I) have been reading The chicken chick's guide to Backyard Chickens. We have cleaned out the coop - they went the deep bedding method. We are going to put down a floor. We have read and read about the coop and want to get that ready. Have no clue how to keep the chickens alive.....so am coming here for help.
