Texas Chicken Tender
Chirping
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? A Neighbor gave me 2 Chickens a couple of years ago . I really enjoyed my “ girls” until the Army Housing company made me rehome them because “ farm” animals are not allowed on military installations
. My Husband finally retired and we are taking over the family farm in Texas .I have been planning my coop and new flock and it is finally in my grasp!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? I am getting 4 Brahma and 2 Americauna pullets as soon as the Coop is build . The lady who is raising them sends me daily pictures and progress updates. My husband is starting Coop construction on December 6th so hopefully the flock can move into their new home before Christmas .
(3) What breeds do you have? Brahma and Americauna but I already pre ordered 2 polish Silkies and 2 Easter eggers for this spring .
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?besides the obvious things like eggs and fertilizer .. Chickens are fun and the clucking is so soothing!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Gardening, Cooking, Baking, Crochet, interior Decorating, up cycling of things I find at yard sales.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. We are an Army family , my husband just retired after 29 years . We have 3 grown boys that are also Veterans and 3 Grandkids. It is a little bit scary to leave the Army life and learn how to run the family farm but we are excited to get started .
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I was looking for Information about Coop designs and any information about what I will need for my new flock of fluffy butts
