Hi this little dove was at our door this morning. We want to help it. Looks like scabs or warts over eyes and a puncurethane mark on top of head....

DK too much but the scabs might be pox - will it eat and drink if you put some water near it's beak?
Look at this thread from another forum. [first post is p4]
http://www.pigeons.biz/forums/f6/baby-morning-dove-fighting-pox-101706-4.html

BTW pox is a mosquito borne virus expected to run it's course in a few weeks. The scabs dry up and peel off. Humans are not susceptible to the best of my knowledge:D

I'm thinking the puncture wound is an injury sustained due to poor vision [scabs] and should heal on its own if not too serious. Giving him/her food and water in a safe cage or dog kennel type housing while it recovers from the virus would definitely improve it's chances. So kind of you to care for it!!:D

Poor little thing. I really don't know much about doves - we had one fly in and adopt us one day! But birds in general are very tough so if you can give it some tlc it has a good chance of recovering.

Are you in an area prone to ticks? It's just I found this site with symptoms for all eye related diseases in pigeons and doves. See if you can match what your poor bird has:

Let us know how it goes.
