My hen has just hatched her first clutch under my care-my first hatching so far! (

)...any ways, she left 6 eggs in the nest and took off with the rest of her 6 CUTE little chicks. It has probably been maybe ~half a day since the eggs have been unattended, and so i took them and out them in a container with a semi wet towel under them under a heat lamp.

I candled them, and they seem pretty well developed (the air sac was pretty big), so is there any chance they will hatch, and also if there is a chance, am i doing it right??

Thanks! pictures of hen and chicks to come!

Did you see any movement when you candled? If so, there is a good chance that you will be adding to the brood!! If you're not sure...give them a chance to catch up...keep us notified!

I talked to someone this weekend that collected all the eggs her broody hen left behind when she left the nest with her chicks. She put them on a heating pad on her kitchen counter...and hatched out every single one! I don't know how much time elapsed between the hen leaving and the heating pad - but I found it amazing! No hygrometer, no thermometer, no obsessing over temperature/humidity, opening the incubator....

congrats on the cheeping!! I LOVE LISTENING TO THEIR FIRST SWEET SOUNDS! Let them rest and enjoy the show...heck, looking back I wish I would've tape recorded their first songs!

Make sure the temperature around the eggs is around 99-100, don't move the eggs if you can avoid it, and wait and see what happens. Let us know!
