Leftover soy mush?

My inlaws make their own soy milk, and I was wondering if the leftover mush would be good for the chickens? I don't think they do anything with it, just throw it away currently.

I would think so...but hopefully someone else will chime in to verify that.

I've been wondering if I could feed mine leftover homemade Ham n Beans. Maybe someone will help us both.

It should be okay, my chooks eat slop like pigs. But I say bring some home and test it out to see if they like it. If they eat it you have an extra food source/treat for the chickens. You will never know unless you try. If not you can use it for the garden and the plants. Good fertilizer, if not food for the chooks.

Sorry I forgot that i did feed them soy beans 3 months ago and they ate it! it up so got for it!

I feed mine Goulash all the time...they love anything with pasta. I even tossed a leftover chicken leg to them the other day. DH sent a nest of mice into the hen house, and they feasted on those. I guess I should have known they could do the beans. I was just worried they would give em the gas or diarrhea.

I also feed them the occasional chicken bone /sandwich (if they do not get greedy and attack, fly on me, for it). I wouldn't doubt that the chooks feel the same way we do when we eat beans. But if they have that and scratch, they get through the gassy situation. You know what they say in one end out the other.

The soybean meal that you see in feed has been roasted. All soy should be cooked before giving to chickens, or it has anti-nutrients and isn't good for them.

If their soymilk leftovers aren't cooked soy, then this isn't good unless you cook it.

so maybe if it went through a pellet mill you could, they run at about 240 F to make the pellets. although they are kinda expensive i would really like to have one. the soy meal idea is some thing that i have been trying to figure out how to feed my birds with it. so if any one has done it successfully i would love to hear about it
