Hello to everyone.I am in the market to locate a company, that sells aluminum or stainless steel leg bands, for chickens. Now I already have looked, and found several companies that sells the bands, but they either pre-stamp numbers on the bands,or you can order them with the numbers-letters you want.
I am used to ear tattooing calves, and with that type of equipment, you can change letters and numbers in the actual "pliers" that is used to squeeze the "pins" thru the ear. You first rub ink inside the ear,and once the tattoo is completed, you rub the ink into the newly formed holes that have ben punched in the ear.
There has to be a company out there, that makes a pliers type tool, that you can interchange numbers and letters in yourself, and then squeeze them into the blank leg band.If noone does this, then someone should.
Accurate recordkeeping for running several seperate bloodilnes of the same type of bird, requires more than just a number on a tag. I realize day old chicks may not yet need this identification, only a way to tell what group they came from,so a colored band will work fine, but once the flock is culled, and then birds are mixed-seperated,I want more than just 3 numbers on a leg band. Anyone know of a company that sells such a "stamper" for chicken leg bands, where you can choose yourself what combination of letters and numbers will be on that tag? thanks
