If you're hatchin out a lot of chicks from different lines, people, types etc. For instance. I will have 4 separate lines of showgirls, and about that many silkie lines too. I want to keep them separate so that when I make selections I know the genetics and where each chick came from.
If not banded they'd all be lumped together.
The bands here are just small elastics that are easy to put on small chicks. They expand so you don't have to change them every week. They are also easy to remove when you need to go up to the next size. They are not permanent markers like you would put on a grown chicken.
So I can easily color code each line. So I can see at a glance where each chick originated.
I did receive my bands today and they are just like the ones Julie paid a lot for. It's a heck of a deal if you band a lot of newborn/young chicks.
