Leg bands for new chicks, what can I use

I would like to put leg bands on our new chicks to tell witch clutch is which, but I don't know what to use.

I have these little plastic 'rings' that I use in my crocheting (markers), can they be used?

a lot of people use zip ties, just leave them loose and remove them before they get tight and replace them with looser ones.

zip ties work well and come in lots of colors and are fairly cheap. just leave them loose, keep in mind they like to peck at red stuff so use other colors
