I have 6 chicks but 2 are the same breed and almost same coloring (white with black spots). When they were days old they were easy to tell apart now that they are 2 weeks they have more spots and wanting to get a band to put on one so won't get them mixed up til they get all the spots they are getting. I tried a tiny zip tie but everyone else wanted to peck her leg so I removed it. I don't know what size I would need from Amazon or if I could go get the little colored rubber bands for little kids hair (picture below) that break very easily. I also have 2 bcm's (just under a year old) that I want to get a leg band for so can tell them apart but again don't know what size they would need.

I usually don't recommend the little rubber bands only because if the other chickens or even the chicken is on is pecking at it and it breaks they could eat it and that can get tangled up in the tongue or in the crop and cause some issues if you go into the description on Amazon of the different leg bands they'll show age ranges I know from the ones I used last year Happy Hen is the brand and I bought the medium ones for my 3-week-olds and they were way too big so I would definitely recommend small but it's also good to get two sizes because as they grow you're going to need to size the band up and you'll have to make sure you keep a really good eye on it because you do not want their leg to grow thicker and have that band starting to tighten on the legs so just keep an eye on when you have to move up sizes also the Happy Hen ones are a harder plastic so there's no harm in the chickens pecking at it because they can't break it or hurt the chicken

Chewy has the Happy hen ones for 4 bucks I think! I never ended up using mine since they started getting more differentiating characteristics as they feathered out so I could tell them apart haha. If you cant find that brand on amazon im sure you'd probably be good with any brand I would say with chicks under 8 weeks definitely go for small
